"The family farm approach taken by Alpigal can be seen in the limited number of chickens per farm and the time that we are able to vote to our birds."

Helmut Unsöld, Alpigal producer

Number of birds per house

Alpigal producers always have enough time for their birds. One of the reasons for this is that Alpigal clearly specifies how many chickens producers may have on their holdings.

While there are no limits on house size in conventional chicken rearing, Alpigal limits both the size of the hall and the number of individual houses.

No more than three chicken houses are permitted per farm, each one housing a maximum of only 9,000 birds at any given time. The Alpigal houses are no more than 660 square metres in size and must be equipped with an outdoor area (cold scratching area).
